This 2016 National Book Award finalist is a story that kids will devour as they root for middle-schooler, Ghost, a natural-born running talent, who gets a chance to be part of the Defenders track team. He needs to prove to his Mom, his Coach, and himself that he can stay out of trouble to stay on the team. Staying out of trouble isn’t easy for Ghost, haunted by his past and taunted and bullied at school for being poor. It’s a bumpy road, but with the support of his coach and new friends on the team, Ghost starts learning that as fast as he is, he can’t run away from himself. Ages 10-14.
